The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)

” A reluctant Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, sets out to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of dwarves to reclaim their mountain home, and the gold within it from the dragon Smaug. “ – IMDb

The Hobbit is a breathtakingly beautiful film, bringing J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle-Earth to life. Advanced filmmaking technology was used to create a fully-realised fantasy world. There is an array of intricate sets with detailed props and costumes.

The sweeping landscapes and sets create a sense of adventure and bring the characters to life as they journey to the mountain.

The Production Designers (Dan Hennah, Alan Lee and John Howe) had their work cut out for them with creating the rich and immersive world, with a strong sense of history and culture.

I remember reading the book in school, so I was thrilled when the movies came out. It has been one of those films that has stuck with me since, a visual masterpiece. You feel apart of the world of adventure and wonder when watching.
